Terpenes |
Beta-Caryophyllene, Limonene, Linalool, Myrcene, Nerolidol |
Myrcene (Musk Citrus) is the most common and abundant terpene found in cannabis. It's also found in mango, with a flavour profile that's a mix of citrus and musk (eating a mango 45 min. before smoking will increase THC effect). Myrcene has been known for its sedative properties and may be part of the reason cannabis has been used for pain management and is usually recommended as a supplement during cancer treatments. |
Limonene (Lemon Citrus) provides a sweet lemon smell. Citrus fruits are loaded with limonene, and it's commonly extracted for use in foods, cleaning products and cosmetics. It is believed to have the potential to improve mood and relaxation, and has been known to help reduce tumor size. |
Caryophyllene (Pepper Spice) is found in a variety of edible plants and herbs and smells of pepper and spice, and can also be found in black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, oregano, basil and rosemary. It has long been used in anti-inflammatory topicals and creams and is also thought to reduce anxiety, and is recommended for treating alcohol withdrawal symptoms. |
Linalool (Floral Spice) is found in lavender and is most responsible for the recognizable marijuana smell. The rich floral scent with just a taste of spice makes it a popular choice for aromatherapy, especially as a scent that helps with sleep and relaxation. |
Nerolidol (Woody Citrus) can be found in jasmine, lemongrass, ginger, tea tree and lavender. It has a strong, woodsy scent, mixed with citrus. Known for its sedative and relaxing effects, it can be a good candidate for aiding sleep. It's also known for having antioxidant, antifungal, anticancer, antimicrobial, and antiparasitic properties. Studies have shown that it can be helpful against parasitic diseases, such as malaria and leishmaniasis. |
Terpenes are fragrant oils naturally secreted in cannabis, including other plants, fruits and herbs. They are the organic compounds that give each strain of cannabis its unique aroma, flavour and effects. These oils have been used for centuries in medicine, natural remedies and food. Experienced cannabis cultivators and dispensary operators.
Gage Cannabis Co. is a premium adult-use cannabis retailer in Ayer, Massachusetts with a mission to provide customers with a diverse selection of the best cannabis and cannabis-infused products available in Massachusetts. As a locally owned and operated company, Gage strives to do this in a manner that is respectful of the community, its staff, its customers, and the plant itself.
The name Gage pays homage to a nickname for cannabis used in the jazz community of the early 1900’s. During this time, cannabis was commonly used in over-the-counter medicines and industrial applications as it had not yet been dubbed a “weed from the devil’s garden” by the decades of propaganda that would soon come. We aim to capture this point in time where cannabis use was widely accepted, because as Louis Armstrong put it, “Gage ain’t nothing but medicine.”

This is hands down the best dispensary in MA, and that is 100% because of the staff. This is the most welcoming group of people I've interacted with in a dispensary setting and I look forward to each visit! |

Friendly, well kept atmosphere, and staff seems engaged. Selection is decent.
[Update 4/3/22: I am modifying this review because I believe this dispensary has actually heard this feedback. They now have a dedicated greeter (at least the last 3 or 4 visits) who shuttles off non-online orders to a separate area for ordering. I feel I have not seen as long of a queue since. Nice work.]
I do have a beef with this place however. Their line/queue management is atrocious. There is really no place for a line to extend, so it becomes very awkward when busy with the entrance setup. Further, people with online orders are mixed with walk ins, who are often nervous or confused and end up 'shopping' on the monitors for 5-10 minutes with staff. This extends the queue time for everybody and destroys the incentive for online ordering.
Other dispensaries have figured this out with separate queues for online vs. walk ins. I think with some thought the entrance to this place could be rearranged to better serve everybody. Right now, this mixed line model and bad layout is a disincentive for me to go here vs. other dispensaries. |
