I have been a loyal, weekly customer at this location for almost 5 years, but today (Jan 30) I was subjected to blatant racism and prejudice by the so call female manage on duty.
At approximately 11:56 AM, I showed my ID as I always do. Because I was feeling unwell, I held the card in my hand to avoid passing germs—a basic health courtesy. The manager immediately began shouting at me, escalating for no reason, and used a "paper note" policy as an excuse to power-trip and humiliate me. It was clear this was about the color of my skin; she treated others behind me with respect but targeted me with aggression, eventually snapping, "I'm the manager and I'm not serving you."
To be profiled and refused service after 5 years of loyalty is disgusting. This manager (white female with heavy built) is a prejudiced individual who has no place in customer service not to mention being a manager.
I will be filing a formal complaint with the owners, High Tide Inc., and I am calling on them to pull the camera footage from 11:56 AM today. You will see a calm customer being harassed and profiled. This is a clear case of differential treatment and racial profiling, and I will be taking this further. Do not support this business if you value human rights and basic respect.
