Since 1994, Friendly Stranger has been a champion of cannabis devoted to activism, community and culture. Friendly Stranger is more than a store. It’s a place for those seeking a positive cannabis environment that inspires unity, advocacy, and acceptance. Where others see customers, we see friends.
Since day one, we’ve been on the front lines of the fight to end cannabis prohibition. Making hemp products available to the public, seeking justice for those unfairly prosecuted and shining a light on a subject cast in shadow. We aimed our relentless and passionate activism toward a change that has finally come.
To this day, we continue to promote the environmental and economic benefits of all forms of cannabis while fostering a welcoming and open spirit. The soul of Friendly Stranger is a community brought together by a shared belief and one that grows with every new face that walks through our doors.
We want to connect Canadians through cannabis, to educate and inspire a community of togetherness, to befriend the world one stranger at a time.

I had recently been on the hunt for a new regular cannabis shop to purchase from. As I've had more good than bad experiences with Friendly Stranger I figured I would give them a try for my more frequent purchasing needs. There is one tender in particular that will be my main reason for going a little out of my way to make this my normal shop. This individuals name is Michelle. She's been a friendly, easy to talk to employee whose knowledge of individual product goes beyond just a worker. As someone suffering with severe PTSD I never find it easy to get lasting products but every time I've been in she's always come through with the perfect choice. To top that off even if she did all the leg work, if a tender was already looking after me she ensures they still get the sale credit. That's true integrity and a team player I hope the store is proud of. As long as she's there I don't think I have to go looking any further.
This review is based solely on my experience today with sales representative Michelle, not the store as a whole. Overall, I've consistently found the team to be welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, and enjoyable to interact with.
However, my checkout experience today left me feeling unsettled and disappointed.
Since 2024, I've earned Level 3 status in the Sparks Rewards program, which provides members with certain discounts. In the past, I've experienced occasional system issues where discounts were not properly applied, so I've made it a habit to politely confirm at checkout that my rewards have been processed correctly. Other sales associates have always been understanding and helpful when I've asked.
Today, when I asked Michelle to confirm that my Level 3 discount had been applied, she told me my account was showing as Level 2. I explained that I consistently encounter this issue in-store, but that my account reflects Level 3 status. Rather than working with me to understand the discrepancy, she repeated that I was Level 2 and suggested the number I provided was incorrect.
I tried to show her my account details and asked how we might resolve the recurring issue, as I shop there regularly. Unfortunately, instead of de-escalating the confusion or acknowledging my experience, the interaction became uncomfortable. When I expressed frustration about how the situation was being handled, I was told I was making her feel uncomfortable. She then ended the conversation a ..
My favourite place since before legalization when it was accessories only in Toronto. Great selections, wonderful staff, great deals handy points/rewards systems for discounts, donations, and monthly contest entries. Convenient location and good operating hours. Staff are hardworking and when the place is a little bit busy they are still chill and hustle around well. Staff follow proper polices, procedures and laws which ensures a smooth experience. This is a happy and safe environment for all.
This is my usual fav store but just had an experience with an employee that did not match the vibe this store usually has. This store has always been the best at honouring price matching at other stores (as long as it was within 10k of their store⦠that was the policy its apparently changed) while checking out this morning i was being helped by a lovely employee. The person helping me asked her associate about a price matching and thats when this other associate just started getting nasty and rude. She refused the price match i had that was well within the policy distance simply because it said Courtice(only 3.5km away also a store i have price matched to many times before at this store). She then went onto her phone to try and convince her co worker i was lying by looking up the price match luckily the coworker insisted that i had shown all the required material and it did exist. As i tried to confront the other employee about this she simply smirked at me and turned her back and started talking to someone else. This is the most rude interaction ive ever had at this store and so unlike any of their other employees. You clearly need to go over your price match policy with this employee again and potentially a printed out version of your policy in store would help.
Went in tonight with a random vague request and Cassy killed it with her excellent customer and suggestions. Thank you for making this petty mode disengage and turn to chill mode lol
