Caryophyllene (Pepper Spice Woody) is found in a variety of edible plants and herbs and smells of pepper and spice, and can also be found in black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, oregano, basil and rosemary. It has long been used in anti-inflammatory topicals and creams and is also thought to reduce anxiety, and is recommended for treating alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

Limonene (Lemon Citrus Sweet) provides a sweet lemon smell. Citrus fruits are loaded with limonene, and it's commonly extracted for use in foods, cleaning products and cosmetics. It is believed to have the potential to improve mood and relaxation, and has been known to help reduce tumor size.

Myrcene (Musk Earthy Spice) is the most prevalent terpene in cannabis, characterized by earthy, musky, and spicy clove-like aromas. It is renowned for its sedative properties, making it ideal for relaxation and sleep (eating a mango 45 min. before smoking will increase THC effect). Beyond cannabis, myrcene is found in mangoes, hops, and lemongrass, offering anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and muscle-relaxant benefits.

Pinene (Pine Earthy Herbal) smells like pine trees, with a hint of rosemary. A relatively common terpene also found in rosemary, orange peels, basil and parsley. It has been studied for a variety of positive effects, including helping with focus and respiratory inflammation.

Terpenes are fragrant oils naturally secreted in cannabis, including other plants, fruits and herbs. They are the organic compounds that give each strain of cannabis its unique aroma, flavour and effects. These oils have been used for centuries in medicine, natural remedies and food.

This is a very old heirloom strain and its origins are shrouded in mystery, most likely coming out from a blend of the most popular strains of the time in that area. At Western, we pheno-hunted through a batch of seeds that were a back cross of Matanuska (MTF x MTF) to find the most representative expression of the original descriptions. The flowers are a silvery green in appearance because of the thick covering of large trichomes. The buds are medium size with irregular shape and a light density. The initial aroma of a mild chocolate dessert comes through when you first break open a bud. What follows is a more subtle mint perfume flavour with an earthy taste. The sativa effects are well pronounced with high THC. The Western team believes we have done our best to honour this fantastically potent, classic strain.
