| Honestly I love the cannabis, however the service I received from the manager in particular was very disappointing. I was bringing my friend who is new to Toronto. This was my first visit back to this store in quite a while, and the experience was unfortunately negative from the start. It was pouring rain and we were already soaked when we walked in. I hadn't remembered about the sign at the entrance and, focused on getting inside quickly, we didn't see it. Instead of a polite reminder, we were met with an abrupt, authoritarian tone from the manager who scolded us in a rude and condescending way.
When I tried to explain that in other cannabis stores I have always had my ID checked at the counter and that I simply forgot about their sign, the manager cut me off with, "Please do not insinuate that my staff don't check ID's." This was not at all what I was saying, but he made it clear he wasn't interested in listening.
At checkout, he gave a half-hearted apology that quickly turned into another interruption. In a patronizing and frankly ageist tone, he added: "By the way, my workers would never not check your ID's at the door, especially not for people born in 2005."
My friend visiting from the UK even remarked that if she had gone in alone and experienced that kind of "hospitality," she would never have stepped foot in a Canadian cannabis store again. That is how poor the interaction was. |
