| I had an extremely disappointing and frankly disturbing experience at this Tokyo Smoke location in Kingston.
I don't smoke or use cannabis, but my partner does. Out of curiosity, I decided to step in and ask a few questions about their products and the store name.
I was met by a young male employee who greeted me with a cold, unfriendly stare — no smile, no welcome, no courtesy at all. I clearly stated I was just gathering information. When I asked if their cannabis was different from other stores or from the Indian Reserve in Tyendinaga, he immediately shut me down, saying he could no longer serve or speak to me.
I was shocked and asked why, only to be met with further hostility. A manager then approached me aggressively, demanded I leave, and physically escorted me out, despite my immediate apology for using the word "Indian" instead of "First Nations."
As a senior, I found this treatment extremely disrespectful and intimidating. Their overreaction and lack of basic kindness was beyond unprofessional — it felt more like an attack than a customer interaction.
If they have security footage, I invite them to review it. This is exactly what happened.
I strongly caution other seniors or anyone simply wanting to ask questions: avoid this store. There are many other cannabis retailers in Kingston who treat people with basic decency and respect. |
