I was just in the Bud Barn Cannabis Co. on Nicol Street here in Nanaimo.
It was as terrible of a buying experience as I've ever had, and even though I always try to support independent cannabis retailers, this neighbourhood place is sadly, off my list of approved vendors.
I like to smoke a specific style of joint, one called "straight cut". They take a long tube, cut it to individual lengths and put rolled paper filters in the end. Generally, I find straight cuts don't "Canoe" as frequently as the cone style.
I guess I have asked the questions about prerolls before in this store, and certainly too many times in front of "Austin" the person behind the counter. I told them (there was a gal behind the counter too, and Austin stepped up and chose to help me.) that I wanted a specific type of prerolled joints, they came with both indica and sativa, came in in black tin, and the joints were "straight cut".
I know what straight cut means, as another counter person there taught me on a previous visit.
Austin quickly had a black tin in his hand and was ringing it up when I questioned him as to them being "straight cut", he assured me that they were. I then said "Okay, I'll take two", he had to go grab another pack of prerolls.
As I was getting ready to pay, I asked him again about them being "straight cut" he assured me that "these are what you want". I told him okay, and that after he was done ringing it up, to open them up and make sure that they were straight cuts.
