You're Always Welcome At Canna Cabana!
Since 2009 we’ve been dreaming up spaces for Cannabis lovers to feel at home. As smokers ourselves, we were sick and tired of sketchy alleys leading to bargain basements that made us feel like we were doing something wrong.
Canadians deserved something better, and so we opened our first Smoker’s Corner head shop in downtown Calgary that same year. Finally a bright, clean, welcoming place where marijuana enthusiasts could gather and geek out about cannabis culture – weed, bongs, pipes, vaporizers and yes… even getting high!
After legalization, we knew we wanted to bring that same vibe to selling legal Cannabis (man, sometimes we still can’t believe it).
Canna Cabana was created for people who loved weed (still do) and want to buy it, smoke it, and talk about it in a playful, safe environment. We call that a Cabana and we built it for you!
Usually I adore this store, the employees are all LOVELY and so helpful, but today I went in and asked for Chemsicle (sativa) and he gave me Chemzilla (indica). He didn't confirm before making me pay and I made it home before realizing because I've never had issues there before. I went back and told him and he seemed so uninterested and gave the most half-hearted apology while I bought a new sativa; didn't even look at me, just quietly said it as he turned to walk to the back.
Confirm the item before making someone pay, and have the decency to feel a little bad about your mistakes. I wasted $40 on a new sativa that I didn't have to spend.
I've been a regular customer at this cannabis store in Edmonton for quite some time, which is why this experience was especially disappointing.
During my recent visit, Alyssa asked for my ID. I made a light joke saying, "God, this is insane, I already have an account here," since I come in regularly and have never had an issue before. Instead of understanding it was clearly a harmless comment, Alyssa took it the wrong way and refused to serve me.
The male employee standing next to her is someone I regularly interact with and purchase from. He has always been polite and professional, and he knows I'm a regular customer. There has never been any issue before.
I fully understand that checking ID is required, and I respect that policy. That's not the problem. The problem was how Alyssa handled the situation. There seemed to be a communication gap and a lack of professionalism in how quickly the situation escalated to refusing service instead of simply clarifying.
As a loyal customer, I expect respectful and professional treatment. I would appreciate it if the owner or management could look into this matter. I'm open to discussing it directly and resolving the situation.
I've been a regular customer at this store for quite some time, which makes this experience even more disappointing.
During my recent visit, an employee named Alyssa refused to serve me due to what I believe was a misunderstanding. Instead of clarifying the situation or handling it professionally, she chose to deny service without giving me a fair explanation. As a loyal customer, I found this treatment unfair and disrespectful.
I would appreciate it if the owner or management could look into this situation. I believe customer-facing roles require clear communication, professionalism, and the ability to handle misunderstandings calmly. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
I'm open to discussing this directly with the owner to resolve the matter.
I just walked out of Canna Cannabis on Jasper Avenue and honestly, I've never felt so unwelcome in a store.
The guy working there was extremely rude from the start. I asked a few basic questions about their products, and instead of helping, he gave short, dismissive answers with a tone that made it clear he didn't want to be bothered. It felt like I was annoying him just by asking for information. If you work in retail, especially in a cannabis store where people often need guidance, the bare minimum is basic respect.
Customer service was basically nonexistent. No friendliness, no effort to explain anything, no patience. I didn't feel valued as a customer at all. I ended up leaving without buying anything because the whole experience was so uncomfortable.
There are plenty of other stores on Jasper Avenue that treat customers properly. I won't be coming back here.
Unwelcoming atmosphere short of feeling like you're at the cop shop. They want to ID twice before even speaking to you. Even after confirming your legal age and made two purchases day before. Awful inconsistent staff. I was a regular here and have had no issue purchasing. To ask for ID twice after confirming age is borderline harassment. Very unwelcoming unprofessional atmosphere. Will never shop here again. The shop in the mall is much better staff and vibes
