Since 1994, Friendly Stranger has been a champion of cannabis devoted to activism, community and culture. Friendly Stranger is more than a store. It’s a place for those seeking a positive cannabis environment that inspires unity, advocacy, and acceptance. Where others see customers, we see friends.
Since day one, we’ve been on the front lines of the fight to end cannabis prohibition. Making hemp products available to the public, seeking justice for those unfairly prosecuted and shining a light on a subject cast in shadow. We aimed our relentless and passionate activism toward a change that has finally come.
To this day, we continue to promote the environmental and economic benefits of all forms of cannabis while fostering a welcoming and open spirit. The soul of Friendly Stranger is a community brought together by a shared belief and one that grows with every new face that walks through our doors.
We want to connect Canadians through cannabis, to educate and inspire a community of togetherness, to befriend the world one stranger at a time.

There's a new person named River who was very disrespectful and treated me with disdain, as if they were upset with me for serving me.
They made me feel so uncomfortable that I preferred to hold back my urge to smoke that night and return the next day.
I've happily visited the store for several years since it opened on Church St., and it's always been a wonderful experience with the people who work there.
Unfortunately, last Friday wasn't the same with "River."
When I visit Toronto, this is the only dispensary I visit. Not only are the staff professional and nice, they're knowledgeable about their products and are always available to give their recommendations without being too "sales-y". I've been coming here for at least three years now and prices have been consistent, product is always fresh, they have a large variety so you'll find what youre looking for. The extra stuff to pack your kit (grinder, paper, pokey stick things...) is very reasonably priced given this location.
If your visiting Toronto, I HIGHLY recommend coming to Friendly Stranger.
As I swore I'd never smoke 'corporate weed', here I am writing a review for a 'corporate weed store' Ha
This team is great, but I want to shout out the kick ass team of women budtenders - Lissette, Liv and Paula. They are always so friendly, have turned me on to some amazing strains…I like old school weed, none of this put you in a coma for a week shit…and they steer me towards brands that have been 9/10 times on point!
The store is dog friendly and even has done animal rescue item dives around Christmas.
I have to tell you that when I went into
Friendly Stranger on Church Street on Saturday August 15/2025 ,2 employees were both very nice and greeted me with a friendly hello.
Paula helped me, which was not easy LOL, as I don't buy often she was patient asked if she could help others and then back to me and suggested a product, actually several .The product Paula suggested was great and I was very pleased and she was helpful because I felt I was a bit of a pain as sometimes I don't know what to get , Paula was great !!!
I will come the next time I need some product as it is now on my file and I can be one those customers who can be in and out LOL!!
