They intentionally have pieces of paper covering the register screen, so that you can't see what price the items are rung in at, only the total. On several occasions, I have been overcharged upwards of $.50 on an item. On one occasion, the older woman who works there overcharged me $.50. She then placed my second item on top of the first overcharged item, conveniently on top of the price tag. I awkwardly bent down to peer through the pieces of paper to see what was wrong in the total, versus what the price tag had said, Before I could see the incorrect price, she verbally says "oh!", and corrected the price to what the price tag listed the item for. So how did she know she overcharged me, and what the price was, without me mentioning it, if it wasn't intentional? Also, they overcharge on CITY SERVICES. This is the only store in the entirety of Winnipeg I have ever patronized in my 20+ years of living here, that willingly decides to increase the price of bus fare by charging more for bus tickets than anywhere else. Shoppers drugmart, 711 & Circle K don't even do that. No Ma & Pop shop in this city does, save for this place. Imagine being a tiny little shop in the middle of the neighbourhood, and feeling it's ethical to independently increase the cost of public transportation. Disgustingly unscrupulous, greedy, and not very Canadian! Lots of families are struggling to make ends meet, and these folks voluntarily tax bus fare. Just gross. Most businesses don't do this ..
