Adding on that I have decided I won't be using FIka Retailers (thank god there's so many offering the exact same thing!)
Their staff are rude, their prices are insane, it's way too inconvenient to go here--- I simply sometimes do not have my ID and many others I frequent in the city do not ask me as I am a regular and have already been vetted.
This store is amazing!! Aside from the beautiful layout and wide selection , they have kind and helpful staff like Ashley, who helped me pick out my first gummy ever, and her recommendation was exactly what I was looking for! She was super knowledgeable and explained everything patiently.
If there was an option for ZERO stars or even NEGATIVE stars, this place would get it without hesitation. What happened tonight was absolutely unacceptable and beyond insulting.
On August 7, 2025, at 8:35 pm, my wife and I walked in together. I forgot my ID — fine, no problem — my wife had hers and showed it to buy what we came for. After we picked up the product, she politely asked the guy at the fridge if it was okay for her to take money from me since I had the cash. He said "Yes, sure" without hesitation.
The second she took the money from me, his entire attitude flipped. He suddenly refused the sale, raising his voice in front of another customer and accusing us of "being on camera trading money for cannabis" like we were criminals. I calmly offered to grab my ID since we literally live in the same building, but he flat-out said "No, I won't be selling you anything" in the most smug, arrogant way possible.
This was humiliating, disrespectful, and downright hostile. We're in our late 30s, we're regular customers — every other staff member knows us — but THIS guy has made us feel unwelcome twice in a row. The first time, we kept quiet because another staff member stepped in to de-escalate his behaviour. But tonight? This crossed every line.
The way he spoke to us was disgusting. The rudeness, the false accusations, the public humiliation — we've never been treated like this in any store in my life. If management doesn't care enough to deal with this guy, then ..
I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at Fika in the Distillery District on August 7 around 8:30 PM. My husband couldn't come inside because he didn't have his ID, so I went in alone to purchase a cannabis drink. I asked the staff member if I could pay cash, and he said yes. I didn't have exact change, so my husband passed me a $10 bill from outside.
At that moment, the staff member suddenly became extremely loud and rude, saying things like "you're on camera" and "you can't take money" in a very disrespectful tone. He refused to sell me the drink, even though I followed the rules and had valid ID. His behavior felt discriminatory and completely unprofessional.
I've never been treated so badly at a business in Toronto, and it left me feeling unwelcome and humiliated. Management needs to address this kind of conduct — no customer should experience such disrespect.
My first experience at cannabis store and I was impressed how much of different things this place can offer 🪄🍭 good customer service
